If you’ve been around me for more than 5 minutes in the last 3 days, odds are I’ve started humming or singing the theme song to The Barry Gibbs Talk Show
I rarely find all minor verses (vi iii here) catchy, but a IV iv lead in the pre-chorus lifts the uneasy minor tone slightly and brings on the rousing, but not triumphant, I iii IV iv chorus.
That IV iv chord change kills me every time and the damn Bee Gees used it twice in Nights on Broadway. It’s like they knew it would be the loose tooth I can’t help but painfully push with my tongue.
But that bridge? Ugh. The words forced and lost come to mind.
I know what you’re thinking right now: The Bee Gees? Really?
Shut up.
